Precision not so preciseWe contracted for asbestos tile removal and some drywall/bath demo in master bathroom for a remodel July 31st 2012. Day of work scheduled (Tuesday), no project manager supervising, was told they weren't able to come in. I reviewed scope of work to be done with lead worker. We left the house for the day and surprisingly lead worker was also leaving. That afternoon was told by lead that work was completed then he told me the crew took out extra sections of drywall, without asking or notifying us.Spoke with R (manager) from the office, was told they would take care of things and fix it. After 4 days they never came to pick up the HEPA filter after being told the air samples came back clear on Wed, which did not happen since nobody came back after demo crew. On Friday requested air sample results and documentation from S in the office. Monday they finally picked up filter. A project manager Mr. C, finally came out later that Monday and "verified" that 3 extra walls were taken out (was in the house about 10 minutes). No final inspection of asbestos removal was completed. After arranging a time their drywall guy J (he didn't want to work while other people were working there) I explained what work was to be done and what part I would have my contractor take care of in original drywall work. No project manager checked in, no return call from office except to collect payment even when drywall wasn’t finished. Drywall guy left a wad of trash and drywall mud behind another wall through hole. Called J he said he was sorry; I phoned office with no return call. Asked for bill deduction since I had to have my contractor spray texture and fix J's mistakes. Was told by office person she would consult with the people in charge. No phone call. 1 ½ weeks later was called for payment and told that the drywall guy doesn’t think they should make any bill adjustments. I asked that R contact me since she apparently did not consult with project manager. My contractor had to fix mistakes and finish drywall taping not completed by precision’s worker, my contractor quoted about $400 to fix. Prior to our tile being put in I cleaned the floor and found over 8 ft of 1-1 ½” pieces of asbestos laden tile left over at the bottom of the drywall in 2 spots, that should have been removed per scope of work, left a message on Sunday. Monday received a call from manager asking for payment, they didn’t even listen to their messages. I told them I don’t feel comfortable paying since there were so many things wrong and only once did a project manager come out for 10 minutes. They threatened to place a lien on my house (big bully) so I offered to pay $200 from total price for the demolition labor. I asked to speak with the owner and was hung up on by manager, I called back and asked again to speak with owner, R said he would see if he can put me through, then click...November, received an email from office person asking for payment. I stated we have yet to receive paper work as requested and that I have yet to be connected with the owner, thus I will no longer communicate with S or R. Email reply states I won’t get the paper work until payment (a bit childish). A week later I received a call from R and I hung up; they still didn't get my request. Can anyone say - Small Claims Court; thanks for the day in court. Precision was far from being precise.
